The Challenge & Project Scope
Orchestrating a music video shoot with performers, instruments, and high-value camera gear on open tidal waters requires strict risk mitigation. The production team needed a floating stage that was stable, spacious, and fully compliant with Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) safety guidelines.
The MMS Solution & Deployed Assets
Working in close partnership with Cinecraft.uk (who provided the film boat charter), MMS Marine Services Ltd supplied the flat top barge and towage services. We configured the barge as a stable floating stage, installing temporary MCA-compliant safety handrails (1 metre high) and non-slip deck coatings. Our tug 'Felaura' towed and positioned the stage in the River Medway estuary, maintaining a steady heading against wind and tidal currents. We also deployed a standby rescue RIB to ensure immediate safety cover for the artists and production crew.
Project Outcome & Verification
The shoot was completed safely and on schedule, providing stunning cinematic estuary backdrops for the music video. The project demonstrated the seamless coordination of marine logistics between MMS and Cinecraft.uk while adhering to strict safety protocols.
